Ah Cacao - Cacao is a vital symbol of Mexico, and this modern take on our national treasure is a pleasure to indulge in. Purchase mayan chocolate to drink, eat, in conjunction with the normal range of coffee drinks. Sink into comfy seating and enjoy! The nearest location to Quinta Margarita is Constituyentes and 5th Avenue. Price range: $$.

Chez Celine - Follow the scent of freshly baked French bread. Chez Celine offers food lovers a real taste of France, with sweet pastries, crepes, an naturally, some wine to wash it down with. Their breakfasts are legendary, so line up early! Very close to our hotel, just walk down 5th Avenue and you’ll see them at Calle 34th. Price range: $$.

Almirante Pech - 5th Avenue is the central street for shopping and eating, yet the amount of restaurants is dizzying. One of our picks is Almirante Pech, off of 30th Norte and 5th. What you receive is delicious, Mexican food in a sleek setting. Try the ceviche, and any of the meat dishes -- you won’t be disappointed! Price range: $$$.

Negroamaro -  Playa del Carmen is well-known for international cuisine and our choice for Italian is this charming restaurant on 5ta  Avenue, between 34th and 38th Norte. Their specialties include gourmet pizzas, pastas, and fresh salads. Price range: $$.

Los Hijos de la Tostada - For outstanding seafood and Mexican style cuisine, you can’t go wrong with this popular eatery. Tostadas are a regular staple in the Mexican diet and worth trying out. Los Hijos is an easy walk from Quinta, just head east down 5th Avenue, and it’s on the corner of 5th and 38 Norte. Price range: $ to $$.

El Pirata -  Ceviche is a cornerstones of Playa cuisine, and you will find tasty choices at this unpretentious eatery. They also serve full plates of seafood, from white, flaky fish, to grilled prawns. It can be easy to miss them, but walk down 40 Norte, towards the beach and follow the music. Local musicians come frequently to entertain diners. Price range: $.

 

Beach Clubs

Kool Beach Club - Located on Calle 28th, right at the beach, Kool Beach Club offers lounge chairs, sun umbrellas, and showers/restroom access so you can fully enjoy sunny days on the beautiful Caribbean sea.

Zenzi Beach Club and Restaurant - If you’re looking for a scenic beach spot to grab a drink or food, hit Zenzi at the beach and 10th Street. Their menu is a Mexican fusion mix and if you fancy dancing, try out Salsa on Saturday nights, or Samba lessons on Sundays.

Coralina - A lively beach club, this is prime location to sit by the pool or the beach, and sip drinks with friends. DJ’s spin the latest music and if lounging makes you hungry, enjoy the on-site restaurant. Find them at 26th Calle and the beach.

Coco Bongo - This is a venue  that must be experienced upon landing in Playa del Carmen. Imagine a visual and sound masterpiece that’s part cabaret, rock n’roll, and gravity defying acrobatics That’s the reeling effect of Coco Bongo. Patrons line up for blocks to attend their energizing, stimulating performances.   VIP access: open bar and entrance fee.

Mandala - This open-air club decorated in the vibrant colors and style of Mother India makes you feel like you’re already in a VIP room, the only thing left is getting the pass.
